7 days in Wuhan
A complete river-city week: the essential sights, three districts at human scale, local food streets and two weather-safe days you can move without losing the trip.
Seven days makes sense when you want a real city rather than a sprint. Days 1–5 cover the classic plan. Days 6–7 are deliberately flexible: use one for historic Hankou and one for a rain, heat or energy reset.
Wuchang classics
Hubu Lane → Yellow Crane Tower → Yangtze River Bridge → Tanhualin.
Book the tower, eat a light breakfast and keep the river walk modest. This first day works because it stays in one historic Wuchang zone.

Hubei's bronze bells
Hubei Provincial Museum → selected East Lake shore.
Let the fixed museum reservation drive the day. After lunch, pick one lake section, then return early rather than turning the greenway into a sun-exhaustion test.

Hankou: city and river
Jianghan Road → historic blocks → Hankou River Beach → Xuesong Road.
Keep the whole day north of the Yangtze. Save Jianghan Road and riverfront destinations in Chinese, then use Xuesong Road for one calm, seated dinner.

Hanyang: the third town
Qingchuan Pavilion → river view → Guiyuan Temple or Guqin Terrace area.
Cross once in the morning and do not cross back until evening. Treat religious sites as active places: quiet voice, covered shoulders where appropriate, no photography where prohibited and no pressure to join incense rituals.
East Lake greenway day
Chosen greenway section → waterfront lunch → optional botanical or university exterior.
Only make this an all-day ride or walk in suitable weather. University access is optional and controlled; the lake is the actual plan. Keep a card or eSIM data for a return ride if conditions change.
Historic Hankou at street pace
Old concession streets → customs/architecture stop if open → coffee → river sunset.
10:00 — walk, do not chase a list
Use Day 6 for the older Hankou fabric around the Bund-style riverfront and former concession streets. Check which small museums or historic interiors are actually open before walking there; the outdoor architecture remains worthwhile even when a door is closed.
Late afternoon — choose river, not another taxi
Return to the river at sunset or revisit a favourite Jianghan Road block. This is the day to buy small gifts and slow down, not to add a far-away attraction.
Weather, appetite and departure buffer
Repeat a favourite → protected indoor time → station/airport without stress.
Use this day intelligently
Move the lake, tower or riverfront here if rain, heat or crowd limits changed Days 1–6. If the main sights are complete, make it a food-and-neighbourhood day rather than inventing a distant excursion.
Leave the city with time
For WUH or a rail departure, confirm the exact terminal/station in Chinese, allow for security and keep passport, booking reference, power bank and payment backup accessible.
One-week Wuhan safety net
- Heat: greenway days move first when temperature or storms are poor.
- Reservations: museum and tower are fixed; lake, riverbank and neighbourhood walks are flexible.
- Food: use a translation card for allergy and spice requests; hydrate more than you think necessary.
- Documents: original passport, hotel address in Chinese, train/flight ticket and a charged phone stay together.
- Transport: when a cross-river journey looks complicated, use the metro or an official ride rather than an unverified ferry schedule.
