7 days in Zhangjiajie
A weather-safe week with every major landscape, a local recovery day and one regional extension to Furong Town.
Seven days is valuable because mountains do not respect a fixed schedule. Days 1–5 cover the core; Day 6 provides recovery and a weather swap; Day 7 adds Furong Town only when rail, luggage and onward travel make sense.
Yuanjiajie and Tianzi
East Gate → Bailong → Avatar viewpoints → Tianzi → return.
Enter the correct reserved gate and use marked eco-bus/lift connections. Ask staff about the last return before committing to another viewpoint.

Golden Whip and Ten-Mile Gallery
Valley route → confirmed exit → shuttle → gallery.
Walk only a sustainable valley section, keep food hidden from macaques and use an official shuttle if the Ten-Mile Gallery connection is still practical.
Gate check: confirm entry and exit with hotel staff before departure.
Tianmen Mountain
City station → assigned A/B/C route → summit → cave → return.
Follow the ticketed route, not an old online diagram. Wind or ice can close cliff paths while other sections operate; never cross a barrier.

Grand Canyon Glass Bridge
Reserved slot → security/locker → bridge → included canyon route → return.
Check prohibited items and exact product, wear stable shoes and confirm the exit before entering a one-way canyon section. Keep the evening free.
Cave, lake and local show
Yellow Dragon Cave → rest → Baofeng Lake or Charming Xiangxi.
Use handrails in the wet cave, rest after lunch and choose either the lake or a verified evening performance based on energy. Do not force all three if the morning route runs late.

Weather buffer and Tujia culture
Swap a mountain day → Tujia Folk Customs Park → city rest and food.
First choice — repair a weather loss
If rain, wind or inspection changed an earlier day, use Day 6 for the missed booked attraction after confirming ticket-change rules.
Otherwise — local culture and recovery
Visit a verified cultural venue in the city, learn basic Tujia history and keep expectations clear about staged performance versus preserved heritage.
Evening — prepare the regional transfer
Check Zhangjiajie West departure, Furongzhen station, luggage and your onward hotel. Do not trust map drive times for a rail journey.
Flex rule: Day 6 is more valuable as insurance than as another prepaid mountain activity.
Furong Town extension
Zhangjiajie West → Furongzhen rail → waterfall town → overnight or onward travel.
Morning — travel light
Use the passport-linked rail ticket and verify the exact station. Arrange the last-mile transfer through the hotel or a metered/verified service.
Midday to evening — old town and waterfall
Follow official paths and safety closures around the waterfall, especially after heavy rain. The town is most atmospheric after day-trippers thin, so consider one night instead of a late road return.
Onward planning
If continuing to Fenghuang, buy the correct rail and hotel transfer separately. Do not advertise Zhangjiajie, Furong and Fenghuang as one short driving loop.
Alternative: if luggage or weather makes Furong awkward, keep Day 7 in Zhangjiajie and depart rested.

The seven-day advantage
- Day 6 absorbs closures instead of losing a major ticket.
- Two bases reduce repeated road transfers.
- Furong is optional and tied to verified rail/luggage plans.
- Every mountain morning begins with an official weather and operations check.
- Return stations, gates and hotel names are saved in Chinese offline.
