3 days in Chengdu
The essential city plan: pandas at the right hour, one real teahouse afternoon, Sichuan opera and a history-and-gardens day that ends under Jinli's lanterns.
Best for a first visit with three full sightseeing days. Reserve the Panda Base and Sichuan Opera first. Chengdu Museum is the only day that usually needs moving around a Monday closure.
Pandas and modern east
Panda Base → hotel rest → Eastern Suburb Memory → Taikoo Li.
07:15 — leave central Chengdu
Carry the passport used for your real-name reservation. Use the earliest available entry and confirm whether your ticket is for the morning or afternoon period. A DiDi or hotel-arranged car is simplest before rush hour; public transport takes longer and may include a shuttle.
Opening–11:30 — Panda Base
Go first to the areas you care about most instead of following every sign. Pandas are more likely to feed and move in the cooler morning. Keep quiet, never tap glass or use flash, and accept that animal visibility changes with welfare routines and weather.
Late afternoon — Eastern Suburb Memory
Rest after lunch, then visit the converted industrial district for design shops, live-music spaces and street photography. Finish with dinner around Taikoo Li or Chunxi Road rather than crossing the city again.

Tea, lanes and opera
Chengdu Museum → People's Park → Heming Teahouse → Kuanzhai Alley → Sichuan Opera.
09:00 — Chengdu Museum
Start beside Tianfu Square for a clear introduction to the city's history and folk culture. Reserve if required, bring your passport and remember that the museum normally closes Mondays.
12:30 — People's Park and Heming Teahouse
Walk or take a short ride west, buy a gaiwan tea and stay long enough for the rhythm of the park to make sense. Confirm the price before ordering tea or ear cleaning; do not let an unsolicited service become a surprise bill.
16:00 — Kuanzhai Alley, then opera
Walk north-west through the old lanes in softer afternoon light. Eat lightly, then continue to your pre-booked Sichuan Opera performance. Choose a venue and seat before the day rather than following street sellers at the last minute.

Poetry and Three Kingdoms
Du Fu Thatched Cottage → Wuhou Shrine → Jinli Ancient Street.
09:00 — Du Fu Thatched Cottage
Use the cool morning for bamboo paths, gardens and the story of one of China's most important poets. The site is much better with a short translation or audio guide than as a sequence of empty-looking halls.
14:00 — Wuhou Shrine
Move south-east after lunch for Three Kingdoms history. Read the basic relationship between Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang before arrival; without that context, the memorial halls become a list of unfamiliar names.
17:00 — Jinli Ancient Street
Exit directly toward Jinli and wait for the lanterns. It is commercial and crowded, so treat it as a lively evening street rather than an untouched ancient town. Compare prices before buying crafts or photo packages.

Three-day essentials before you book
- Pandas: use an official real-name channel, choose the earliest entry and carry the original passport.
- Museum: Chengdu Museum normally closes Monday; move Day 2 if necessary.
- Opera: reserve a clear venue, start time and seat category instead of buying from an unverified street seller.
- Payment: set up Alipay or WeChat Pay and keep small RMB cash for teahouses and backup.
- Spice: save "wēi là" (微辣, mildly spicy) and any allergy statement in Chinese before ordering hotpot.
