ZHANGJIAJIE · FIRST VISIT

5 days in Zhangjiajie

The balanced mountain route: two forest-park days, Tianmen Mountain, one glass-bridge day and a quieter cave-and-lake finish.

← Choose a different trip length

Five days is the strongest first trip if weather is stable. Keep Wulingyuan as the base for four days and move to the city for Tianmen or departure. Do not prepay every optional lift until your route and physical condition are clear.

DAY 1

Yuanjiajie and Tianzi

Booked gate → Bailong Elevator → Yuanjiajie → Tianzi → return.

Enter the correct gate early, use only official eco-buses and ask staff about the last return transfer. Queue time determines how many viewpoints fit.

Upper viewpoints come first while energy and weather are strongest.
DAY 2

Golden Whip and Ten-Mile Gallery

Chosen valley entrance → Golden Whip section → official shuttle → Ten-Mile Gallery.

Agree on the exit before beginning Golden Whip Stream, protect food from macaques and use the eco-bus connection for Ten-Mile Gallery only if time and operations make the sequence practical.

DAY 3

Tianmen Mountain

City ticket station → assigned route → summit → Tianmen Cave → return.

Move to the city the previous evening or leave early. Follow the route letter on the current ticket and accept wind or maintenance closures without trying to improvise around barriers.

Day 3 changes base and ticket system; treating it separately prevents the most common planning mistake.
DAY 4

Grand Canyon Glass Bridge

Reserved transfer → assigned ticket route → bridge → canyon option → return.

Morning — arrive for the printed slot

Carry your passport and check prohibited items, locker rules and weather notices. The bridge and canyon routes may have different products; follow the ticket you actually bought.

Midday — bridge without pressure

Wear stable shoes, keep both hands free and obey staff photography rules. If heights are uncomfortable, do not let a prepaid extra activity force a bad decision.

Afternoon — canyon only if included and open

Confirm the exit and return vehicle before descending. Keep the evening free because weather and queues can change the end time.

The glass bridge is a focused day with controlled entry, not a spontaneous stop between the two main mountains.
DAY 5

Yellow Dragon Cave and Baofeng Lake

Cave morning → hotel rest → Baofeng Lake or Charming Xiangxi.

09:00 — Yellow Dragon Cave

Expect wet steps, humid air, low light and an assigned one-way flow. Follow the group route, use handrails and do not leave marked paths for a photograph.

14:30 — choose lake or rest

Baofeng Lake adds water scenery but still includes transfers and steps. Choose it only if weather and energy are good; otherwise rest before an evening show.

Evening — optional verified performance

For Charming Xiangxi, book a clear venue, seat category and start time through a verified channel. Do not buy from a driver without a receipt or cancellation terms.

Why this five-day route works

  • The two main mountains remain separate.
  • Glass Bridge gets its own reservation and transport margin.
  • The cave-and-lake day is movable when high-mountain weather changes.
  • No long mountain day is followed by an inflexible late show.
